Farm liability insurance protects a farm owner and their assets from lawsuits and losses caused by property damage and bodily injury. It can cover incidents that occur on the farm, or on land owned, rented, or leased by the farm. Farm liability insurance can also cover incidents that occur away from the farm, such as when farm machinery is used on a roadway.

Farm liability insurance can cover:

  • Premises liability

Covers property damage or injury caused by the physical condition of the farm, such as a visitor slipping on an icy sidewalk

  • Operations liability

Covers property damage or injury caused by farm operations, such as an incident caused by farm machinery on a roadway

  • Medical payments to others

Covers costs associated with injuries to employees or guests of the farm

  • Acts of animals

Covers medical costs if the farm's animals injure someone, or the cost to repair a vehicle that collides with the animals
